iPick U is a revolutionary new tool for your social networking arsenal
iPick U is the only app on the App Store which allows you to meet others in your immediate area. And when we say immediate area, we mean Bluetooth range (thirty three feet of space between any two connecting iPhones).
Registration
Launching the application for the first time will require you to register a new account.
(Registration requires a network connection).
- Select Register and enter a username
- Now enter and confirm a password for it
- Select your gender
- Select which gender you would prefer to be contacted by
(Either gender will still be able to contact you, however they will know what you are looking for).
This is designed so you can find your friends in a club as well. - Enter your age
- Select profile pictures (please keep it PG)
(Nudity or depictions of a sexual nature are not allowed on your profile.)
You have three options to choose a picture from:
- a. You can take a picture using your iPhone's camera
- b. You can use any one of your iPhone's photo library pictures
- c. You can grab any one of your Facebook profile pictures but you'll need to log into Facebook.
To do so, just click on the Facebook button.
Tip: (Because this is a live hooking up app, we'd recommend option "a" as it will clearly reflect exactly what you look like that very evening). But the choice is yours. - After choosing the image you want to use, you will have the ability to resize and crop any part of it.
- When done, hit Submit and your account should get created.
The steps above will only be performed once. Each time you launch the app thereafter, you will automatically be logged into the application.
Welcome to iPick U
You are now searchable. Which means, anyone within Bluetooth range who is also running the application can contact you.
On the main screen, you will see three large buttons labeled:
- Search
- Invite
- Friends
Selecting the Search button will take you to the "Looking to hookup with" screen. Here you can specify which gender you are interested in. Selecting any of the buttons on this page will start the search process. The application will look for others in your Bluetooth range and when they are found you will get a list of everyone around you. You can view them one by one and start sending out requests to:
Chat with them
This feature will allow the two connected people to chat with each other via the internet, or if that's not available, via Bluetooth. After chatting, if you'd like, you can:
- If you are a Guy - Offer to buy them a drink
- If you are a Girl - Ask them to buy you a drink
(Both of you must be age 21 or older to have access to the first two options) - Meet with them
- Add them to your friends list
Meet with them
If a meet request is sent out and accepted, then the two connected iPhones will start to flash the same colored light across the whole screen. One of the phones will display "iPick" horizontally, and the other will display "U" vertically. This way when the two people find each other, and put their iPhones next to each other, iPick U will be complete.
At the flashing screen, you can tap your finger anywhere on the iPhone screen and a few buttons will appear. Again you can request to add that person to your iPick U Friends list.
Friends
Adding a friend on iPick U will allow you to communicate with that person, through iPick U from anywhere in the world where you have internet connection. This is a very convenient way of keeping contact with that person, without exchanging personal contact information. And if you ever decide to do so, you can always remove them from your friends list, which will automatically remove you from theirs.
Hitting the back key will take you back to the main screen.
On the main screen selecting the "Invite" button will bring up all your contacts from your iPhone's contacts list. All you have to do is select the contacts that you know have iPhone's and click the right arrow button. This will bring up your iPhone's email. Unless you would like to type a custom message, click on the SEND button. iPick U will decide to either send them an email or a text message with an explanation of why they received the message and two links.
Link Number One is a direct link to grab iPick U from the App Store. Once they click it and download the application, they can come back to that same email/text message and click on the second link.
Link Number Two will launch iPick U and automatically add them to your friends list making it easy to create a network of iPick U friends.
Hitting the back key will take you back to the main screen.
On the main screen, selecting the "Friends" button will bring up a list of all your iPick U friends. If one of your friends is using iPick U at the same time as you, then a small "online" indicator will show next to their name. You can simply click on them and chat with them using iPick U's built in internet chat system.
Settings
On the main screen, selecting the "i" (Settings) button will bring up the settings menu. This is where you can tweak some of the features of iPick U:
- Interaction Level - The interaction level is an indicator of what you are looking for. It's measured on a scale from: 1 - 5:
- 1 - being not very interested in hooking up and
- 5 - being very interested
- Change Picture
- Update Subscription - iPick U is a subscription-based application, it costs $0.99 per month or you may choose from a list of more cost friendly level subscriptions.
- Stay awake feature - if switched ON will not allow your iPhone to go to sleep mode
- Your Status - indicates if you are currently searchable or not
- Beep/Vibrate options - if you would like to turn sound/vibrate options on/off
